The Clinical Research Educator is responsible for providing individualized education to research staff and clinicians based on assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating in collaboration with managers in an area of specialty. The Clinical Research Educator serves as a resource to all research staff and a collaborator with all.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Assesses needs of staff to enhance learning for all research staff. Interacts with staff in order to maintain knowledge of workflow, completes leadership rounds, assesses clinical and educational needs and provides education on the unit.
- Develops a plan to enhance education and staff competencies, revises educational plan based on assessment of nurse skills/needs as needed.
- Mentors staff and oversees planning and implementation of Research Skills Day. Collaborates with Nursing Staff Development and Clinical staff to meet regulatory requirements. Collaborates with managers to assist in maintaining competency record keeping.
- Responsible for keeping planning meetings on track, helping to arrange meeting times and places.
- Responsible for assuring staff involved in skills day planning has have all the necessary supplies and information needed to complete projects.
- Works in collaboration with managers on special projects, serving on committees as necessary.
- Works in collaboration with managers in providing staff orientation and advanced training specific to the area of expertise.
- Serves as a resource to other departments.
- Assesses current nursing practice and uses disease specific to evaluate and implements best practices to further enhance patient outcomes. Works to promote best practices and nursing research within the area of expertise.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelors degree required.
- Current license to practice Nursing in state where work is being performed.
- Certification in area of specialty.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge and application of the adult educational process required.
Kind and Length of Experience:
- 2 years recent clinical research experience including teaching and orientation in his/her research areas.
