The primary role of the Physical Therapist Assistant is to provide therapy interventions that improve the patients overall functional ability. The PTA will use interventions and education that improves mobility, strength, safety and pain reduction.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
Implements the treatment plan in a timely manner as established by the Physical Therapist. Documents the treatment provided and reports any changes in the patients condition to the Physical Therapist. Assists with coordination of the patients rehabilitation program with other disciplines.
All reports and documentation is accurate, interventions are billed correctly, and are completed in a timely manner.
Participates in discharge planning, in-services, orienting and mentoring staff and other similar activities.
Supervises the clinical performance of technicians and other ancillary personnel in the department.
Adheres to the APTA Standard Code of Ethics guidelines, all regulatory agency guidelines, and all Healthcare System and departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains a professional image. Markets services offered while performing day to day responsibilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Licensed or eligible or license in the state where work is being performed.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Physical Therapy techniques
- Good interpersonal and time management skills
- Good communication skills
Kind and Length of Experience
- New graduate or experienced therapist
DESIRABLE
- Previous experience in setting related to primary role.
- Previous experience supervising technicians and ancillary personnel
- Previous experience using EMR (electronic medical record)
