Job Summary:

To support the patient care environment by providing emergency, correction, and scheduled maintenance on the specialized Sterile Processing Department (SPD) equipment and associated infrastructure systems inside the SPD areas at multiple facilities to ensure function reliably.

Job Description:

Co-Manage system-wide program to complete preventive maintenance thoroughly and according to manufacturers recommendations to insure proper operation, accurate regulatory compliance documentation for SPD Equipment. Includes maintaining accurate records to equipment history, coordinating system-wide completion of routine testing and inspection, cost data and other maintenance activities for SPD Equipment.

Assist in coordination and execution of utility shutdowns that impact SPD Equipment functions at each SEH SPD Location across the system that are in the Maintenance Groups area of responsibility. 

Participate in capital improvement projects, both facilities upgrade initiatives and SPD Equipment replacements; including but not limited to: plan & specification review, periodic site review/punch list, and infrastructure planning and multi-year capital replacement planning.

Perform troubleshooting and repairs, including major overhauls to SPD Equipment to assure reliable equipment performance.

Develop, promote, and maintain professional relationships, both internally (Plant Engineering/Maintenance & Perioperative Services) and externally (Equipment Manufacturers, Maintenance Vendors, etc.). Interact positively and courteously with staff, patients and visitors while providing maintenance activities to instill confidence in our guests that problems are addressed competently and promptly.

Participate in the maintenance and repair of other buildings systems and equipment by assisting other technicians such as plumbers, electricians, electronic technicians and others in their activities.

Assure personal safety and the safety of others by safe use of tools and materials.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • HS diploma/Trade school diploma in related field
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • The following specialized equipment training (if not currently possessing training, must complete all equipment training within 6 months of hire) STERIS Equipment (i.e.- VPRO, Amsco 7052HP/5052, Amsco 600/400, Century/Amsco (Sm-Med), 130 CW, Eagle 3000, Rel 1327 Vision CW, Adv Plus, DSD Edge, Caviwave Pro, Amsco Evolution & Synergy)

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Steam, Valves, Pumps, Medical Gases, Compressors, Motors, Fans, Bearings, Electrical components for SPD Equipment, Domestic Water, Deionized/RO Water, and compressed air.
  • Familiarity with using Voltmeter, Amprobe, & Ohmeter

Kind and Length of Experience:

  • 5 years of applicable specialized equipment maintenance experience or installation specific to SPD Equipment.
