Nurses at St. Elizabeth are always right here for our patients, their families and the community, providing comprehensive and compassionate care each and every day. That’s why we have such a strong commitment to providing the right setting, resources and career advancement potential to reward their excellence. Our support of our nurses comes from the top down, through actions and not just words. We invite you to learn about the many ways we are dedicated to your growth and satisfaction.

We’re recognized for the right reasons.

We were the first healthcare organization in the area to be honored with ANCC Magnet Recognition® (Edgewood, Covington, and Grant campuses), the first in the area to have a certified residency and the only organization to have our own building for training and education, with a state-of-the-art Simulation Center. You’ll find our teams have been recognized by national organizations in many different areas:

  • 5 of our campuses have achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® (Edgewood, Covington, Grant, Florence, and Ft. Thomas).
  • St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas ICU and St. Elizabeth Edgewood MICU and SICU have received the Beacon Award for Excellence.
  • St. Elizabeth Edgewood Operating Room and St. Elizabeth Crestview Hills Surgery Center have received designation as CNOR® Strong from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI).
  • St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas Emergency Department was honored as a recipient of the Lantern Award.

Proud to Be a Nurse

Why I Choose St. Elizabeth

“My preceptor exemplified that nursing is more than just knowledge learned from a book; that it is the compassion and care we provide for our patients. How we treat every person like they are a loved family member. However, it wasn’t just my preceptor that made me want to work here at St. Elizabeth, it was the atmosphere. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Almost like they had created their own work family and I wanted to be a part of that.”

Hannah Thomas, RN, Nurse – Transitional Care Unit

“St. Elizabeth made me feel right at home as a new graduate RN, and I continue to feel valued as an associate and a person. No matter the situation or circumstance, people are always willing to lend a helping hand.”

Nicholas Thompson, RN, Assistant Nurse Manager

“It is exciting to work collaboratively with a team that is energized and focused on expanding the delivery of patient care. We leverage technology and innovative thinking to create access points for patients to receive high-quality care when, where, and how they feel best fits their needs.”

Sara Browne, Director of Nursing – Virtual Health

There Are So Many Ways for Nurses to Thrive with Us.

Our Nurse Residency Transition Program, accredited by the ANCC, is for any new graduate nurse with less than one year of nursing experience. Designed to assist you in transitioning from student to professional nurse, this program provides education, support and follow-up during your first year of employment.

It is designed to improve confidence, competence, critical thinking, prioritization, communication and leadership. Our curriculum incorporates multiple teaching strategies, including didactic, skills stations, simulation and unit-based clinical experience with an education specialist, as well as an assigned unit preceptor.

In order to be considered, you need to apply online for an open nursing position. We’ll review your application and determine the appropriate next steps. For further information, please contact: recruiting@stelizabeth.com.

We offer multiple nursing fellowships for those seeking advanced clinical experience, tailored to specific interests and learning needs.

  • Endoscopy Nurse Fellowship for RNs with at least one year of acute care experience.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Fellowship for both new and experienced RNs.

St. Elizabeth’s shared leadership structure is based on the councilor model with unit-based councils at the core. They are encircled by increasing levels of engagement at all levels of nursing, with division and system-wide councils representing nurses in all specialties. Final decision-making rests with Nursing Leadership, in conjunction with clinical nurse representation.

Our professional practice model, the Dynamic Caring Model, defines and guides autonomous nursing practice and patient care delivery in all settings and at all levels. This multidimensional model places the nurse/patient/family relationship at its core and merges holistic care, quality and human compassion to support the paradigm.

Our St. Elizabeth Healthcare Clinical Ladder program recognizes and rewards professional development of nursing experience, from novice to expert, while retaining nursing expertise at the bedside and enhancing quality care.

These special programs are offered periodically to allow a group of nurses to begin and end their studies together, with the goal of completing either a BSN or MSN degree.
