Assists with timely filing of Cytology and Pathology slides and other clerical duties as needed.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- File Cytology and Pathology slides, maintaining numerical order, maintain and label drawer stacks, empty folders and prepare for shipping.
- Package and ship archived slides and blocks for filing as appropriate.
- Prepare slide drawers for disposal of slides at the end of the CAP/CLIA mandated time. Assist with dumping slides, relabeling drawers and recycling the cabinets.
- File send out paperwork in the log book.
- Enhances professional growth and development of self, department staff, other hospital personnel, community and students by participation in continuing education, and in-service training and the School of Medical Technology.
- Implements ICARE principles using communication skills and human relations to promote quality patient care and productive working environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- High School graduate or GED
Specialized Knowledge:
- Computer skills, problem solving skills, customer service/communication skills
Kind and Length of Experience:
- 1-year experience in Anatomic Pathology or medical laboratory
