The Supervisor of Cardiac Vascular Imaging supervises and participates in daily shift activity in the assigned Cardiology discipline. Position performs management functions as delegated by the area Manager or Director. This includes:

  • Performing all the duties of staff or technologist in assigned discipline, including complete cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound studies in compliance with guidelines set by the IAC and approved by the Medical Directors and Technical Directors. 
  • Follow the safety steps required to perform their duties and be in compliance with medical, state and federal safety standards. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriately. Reports equipments malfunctions promptly to Clinical Engineering or Plant Engineering.  Follows up to ensure function and safety of the patients and staff are being met.
  • Obtains and records all patient data as required by the medical center, state, TJC, IAC, or other agencies. Ensure proper charging of all procedures, coding, and modifiers are correct. 
  • Utilizes and oversees staff regarding proper use and function of necessary software systems. Performs and /or delegates QA, QC, CQI data as required by IAC.
  • Assigns daily work assignments to the staff.  Ensures quality of procedures is performed.  Prepares staff schedules that minimize overtime and ensure adequate coverage is available on all shifts.  Assists with entering schedules in Kronos.
  • Assists in employee evaluations and ensures that initial and on-going skills and competency requirements are met.  Serves as a coach/mentor for his/her staff and assist in the education and training of students.  May assist Manager, Director in the hiring of new staff.  May initiate disciplinary actions with management approval and oversight.

Qualifications

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound degree program and/or qualifying experience in accordance with IAC guidelines.

BLS certified

RDCS, RVT, RVS or RCS (only one registration is required)

Specialized Knowledge: 

Good organizational skills. 

Knowledge of the Cardiology Department functions. 

Basic Microsoft Office

Knowledge of Vascular and Cardiac Hemodynamics

Proficient with the use of cardiac and/or vascular testing equipment

Kind and Length of Experience: 

5 years experience in Cardiology and/or Vascular or a modality within Cardiology.
