Job Description:
Financial Management
- Develop key performance indicators in coordination with department Directors and VP Oncology
- In collaboration with oncology leadership creates, evaluates and manages monthly/annual operating revenue/expense variances
- Prepares, analysis, and interprets cost reports and other statistical data as they relate to pre-authorization, denials and write-offs and physician productivity reporting.
- Manage annual budgets for capital, FTE, operating expenses, and revenue.
- Identifies and achieves cost reductions and revenue enhancements.
- Complete and communicate the divisional financial scorecard to the management team monthly.
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with Directors/VP and any and all management of appropriate finance leadership within SEH and SEP
- Manages processes and ensure accuracy of intercompany financial transfers between SEP and SEH for contracted physician services
Operations
- Responsible for overall operational effectiveness and efficiency of all business operations to ensure quality and an exceptional patient experience
- Research and support financial systems decisions and support implementation of new software and technology for the department
- Develops and maintains a working relationship with department leadership as well as any/all Financial Division leadership
Human Resources
- Identify financial training needs for department leadership related to budgeting and finance and develop/provide orientation, education and ongoing training as needed to support the achievement of budget goals
- Collaborates with leadership for developing, maintaining, and revising departmental business operations policies and procedures related to Denials/Write-offs/Prior Authorization.
- Effectively supervises, coaches, empowers, and disciplines staff.
- Demonstrates support of staff and effectively represents needs.
Planning & Strategy
- Collaborates in the development of long-range strategic planning and implementation of tactics to achieve defined goals including creation, management and presentation of any strategic or non-strategic business plan
- Identify methods and conduct regular fiscal analysis for existing and/or proposed programs or services
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills.
- Develop key performance indicators for the Cancer Centers and other assigned areas in coordination with the Director/VP and report monthly to the management team.
- Support acquisition and allocation of resources and technology to advance the initiatives of the oncology program
- Oversee annual capital equipment budget allocation once approved and support acquisition of needed equipment throughout the year
Regulatory Compliance
- Responsible for keeping self and staff up to date with current regulations for reimbursement and billing for both Hospital and Professional billing
- Responsible for assuring compliance of regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and assist with the compliance of accreditation standards to meet accreditation
Performs other duties as assigned
- At the direction of the Director or VP, represent assigned areas in meetings and respond to administrative memos.
- Inform personnel of policy changes developed by administration and implement these changes.
- Maintain currency in fields through continuing education, literature and seminars.
- Implement this knowledge into work practices and procedures.
- Monitor improvement initiatives, design new processes, collect and measure data, review and report performance over time, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation, and reassess continuously.
- Understands, adheres to and models standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the Cancer Care Centers.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Bachelors degree in business or healthcare related field
- Experience in business management
- *An MBA can substitute for up to two years of experience
