Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Resident Education Behavioral Health serves as a clinician educator, ensuring high-quality teaching, scholarship, and patient care in support of ACGME accreditation and resident education. This role is expected to function as a full-time faculty member and to support the success of the residency program mission, goals, and objectives. He or she will be specifically dedicated to the interprofessional integration of behavioral health into the residency program.

Job Description:

  • Implementation of integrated clinical services, such as diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, crisis assessment and intervention, brief education and intervention as part of integrated care visits, and health/behavior coaching. Conduct such visits independently as well as integrated with residents.
  • Serve as coordinator of a longitudinal behavioral health curriculum for family medicine residency program including development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Clinical and didactic teaching on behavioral health topics such as basic counseling skills, motivational interviewing and CBT, Behavioral precepting
  • Shadowing (visits, inpatient rounding, video data, or other) family medicine residents with focus on teaching patient centered communication skills
  • Attend faculty, Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), and clinic meetings, with participation in faculty development activities and involvement in review of resident performance
  • Collaborate in planning and facilitating resident wellness and wellness activities
  • Periodically mentor and advise residents.
  • Perform other activities related to administrative, clinical, and teaching roles as directed by Program Director.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Masters degree in psychology, counseling or related field
  • Licensed as psychologist or therapist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • Experience providing psychological assessment and intervention.
