Pharmacy Technician Life:

Pharmacy technicians play an integral role in everyday pharmacy life. We are medical professionals who work the frontlines alongside pharmacists. We help bridge communication between pharmacists, nurses, and doctors, also providing efficient and effective patient care in hospital, retail, clinical, and community settings. Pharmacy Technicians work with the latest technologies to keep our pharmacies operating smoothly and safely. As the need for patient care evolves and expands so will the need for many more Pharmacy Technician roles everywhere!

Starting pay is $16.61/hr for Academy students and increases upon completion of the curriculum and achievement of PTCE certification. Additional advancement opportunities are available as you gain experience.

Candidates need be:

  • 18 Years or Older.

  • A high school graduate or possess a GED.

  • Standard St. Elizabeth application processes apply: (i.e., background check, vaccines and physical.)

Training Program Outline

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is covering all program costs, which is a significant benefit. Here is a brief overview of what the program offers:

  • Cost Coverage: St. Elizabeth Healthcare will pay for the entire program, valued at $2,700. This includes a one-time exam fee for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), laptop, program fees, and supplemental instruction.

  • Employment Agreement: In exchange for the free program, there is a one-year employment commitment agreement with St. Elizabeth Healthcare after successful program completion.

  • Training and Experience: The program includes hands-on training with certified technicians and pharmacists, and instruction from a full-time educator. Shifts may vary, providing a broad range of learning experiences.

During the 12-week program candidates can look forward to:

  • 8 weeks of didactic (interactive classroom instruction) and simulated training geared towards passing the PTCE.
  • 4 weeks of experiential, hands-on training in selected areas of the pharmacies.

*After every 2 weeks of didactic training there will be 1-week hands-on rotations to enhance the classroom instruction and reinforce understanding.

Pharmacy Technician Training Program Overview

Our Pharmacy Technician Training Academy offers comprehensive education across key areas of pharmacy practice, providing you with a strong, well-rounded foundation. This program prepares you for a variety of roles within the pharmacy field. You will gain hands-on experience and develop skills in:

Inpatient Pharmacy Operations:

Get familiar with hospital pharmacy processes, from medication distribution to working with healthcare teams.

Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding:

Learn essential techniques for preparing medications in controlled environments.

Specialty Pharmacy:

Understand the handling of complex medications and patient care for chronic and rare diseases.

Retail/Outpatient Pharmacy:

Explore the day-to-day operations of community pharmacies, including customer service and medication dispenses.

Pharmacy Inventory Management:

Master inventory control, including ordering, storing, and maintaining pharmaceuticals.
