Working in a hospital setting, you will interact with every other department in the hospital. We draw samples on patients in over 30 areas/units. We draw blood samples from newborns to geriatric patients. You may work in an ICU or draw arterial blood gases and perform heel sticks on newborns. We also offer opportunities to travel and draw patients from rehab hospitals and other local facilities. You can advance into Phlebotomist II, Lead Phlebotomist and Supervisor roles.
Professional equipment is the latest and greatest, including new phlebotomy carts with laptops and technology to scan a patient’s armband and have the labels/orders print at the bedside. We are often the first hospital in the area with new safety equipment. We offer full-time, part-time and PRN positions on a variety if shifts, which both work great for school schedules.
The St. Elizabeth Laboratory team is 400 strong and offers a diversity of roles and work environments. 70% of the information used to diagnose and treat patient conditions originates in the laboratory, so your work will matter. Together, we serve our support, outreach, pathology and clinical lab teams, along with our medical directors. We value quality patient care, teamwork and a pleasant work environment.
Edgewood – This is our largest laboratory and it offers the latest in automated/robotic technology and a variety of specialized disciplines, including Anatomic Pathology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology and Toxicology. If you like busy and large, Edgewood is the place for you.
Florence and Ft. Thomas – A team of generalists supports these full-service hospitals with a defined menu of core laboratory testing, including Hematology, Chemistry and Transfusion. If you like your hand in a bit of everything and smaller teams, Florence and Ft. Thomas are for you.
Covington and Grant – These lab generalists work alone or in very small teams to support the Emergency Departments and a Rural Access Hospital with a defined test menu. If you prefer an independent work environment, Covington and Grant are waiting to welcome you.

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we offer a variety of part-time, full-time and PRN schedules. We have long-term staff that have worked for many years in our area and others who are working part time as they pursue their education. If you are looking for a role that includes data entry and puts you in a position to meet new people every day, the Registration department may be right for you.
We encourage professional growth to reach your full potential as a licensed Respiratory Therapist. Students can begin their career early by obtaining a student license, becoming a member of our team and receiving excellent clinical experiences. We are very flexible with our students and promote many learning opportunities.
For new graduates from Respiratory Care programs, we initiate a great orientation into critical care. As you begin your new career, we want to make sure you have the tools and resources to accomplish all professional goals post-graduation.
We also promote career growth and participation in department councils. We have education, critical care, neonatal and preceptor councils that work collaboratively with our pulmonary intensivists, nurses and allied health teams. And we also have a formal succession planning opportunity for those who want to further their career into leadership or education.
