Job Summary:

Reports to Director or AVP of Revenue Cycle Services, the CBO Physician Billing Trainer is primarily responsible for participation in implementation, training and continuous utilization and improvement of all healthcare applications, collaboration with clinical system end-users and Application Coordinators. The CBO Physician Billing Trainer is responsible for being the most knowledgeable in SEP on all CBO applications and leads the way through training and support for all SEP users. The CBO Physician Billing Trainer is responsible for creating a positive impression.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modify and conduct end user training for all users who will be using the application as part of implementation as well as for new user training for practice management.
  • Participate in go-live activities involving documentation of billing processes, and training of end users of the applications, including physicians on IP Charge Capture.
  • Continuously update knowledge and understanding of the operations of all SEP locations to allow better utilization of the various healthcare applications and provide quality support and training to the users in the various departments.
  • Provide ongoing education and development of users of the various healthcare applications to maximize utilization of the system and encourage cooperation of user departments to work in concert to maintain a more robust system. This includes meeting with the sites on a regular basis to evaluate opportunities for improvement and training needs.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of software upgrades and custom enhancements to assure quality of new system functionality.
  • Conduct initial troubleshooting to identify and resolve system issues. As a result of working with clients during go-live and training, provide feedback to enhance system performance and the operations of SEP.
  • Collaborate with Applications Coordinators of SEHC and principal trainers to help develop new training curriculum and to modify existing curriculum to maximize the effectiveness of training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth running of the department and delivery of services to system users.
  • Continuously review and maintain current EPIC training and resource materials utilized by SEP employees for practice management.
  • Provide Epic Go Live Support, which consists of: 
    a.    Clinical Support
    b.    Must be very competent with all components of the check list, registration, and billing.
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully answer questions and provide guidance on use of systems and standard workflows.
  • Provide continual support to all practices and billing office to achieve the highest level of Epic Optimization.
  • Maintain all required credentials.
  • Maintain availability outside normal business hours as go live support and training may be required before and after the practices normal operating time.
  • Conduct audits for the various departments in the Central Billing Office then provide training to enhance performance and accuracy.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and the ability to learn other computer skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills and work professionally with physicians, hospital administration, management, SEP employees and the public.  Enjoy teaching others and embrace change and innovation. Must be familiar with activities of various clinical or financial departments. Extensive knowledge of healthcare workflow or financial operations, specific to applications that will be trained/supported is preferred. Must be willing to travel to other locations on an ongoing basis. Employee must successfully complete an orientation process that identifies skills needed to practice in their position and in their job assignment. Skill requirements must be met and maintained to ensure employee competency. This is achieved through an annual review of those skills and a work improvement plan for any non-compliant area.     

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of software programs including all SEP clerical, clinical and operational applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating training material and events.
  • Experience in directing and assisting others in a calm and confident manner.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of all quality, regulatory, governmental and billing requirements and standards of SEP.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based decision-making culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes and on-time performance.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating multi-disciplinary communications strategies, strategic initiatives, and events. 
  • Must respond and follow through to requests from customers promptly.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Credentialed Trainer on EPIC software or other certifications applicable to their specific job duties. Must maintain credentials with no lapse in certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience. Employee must complete a credentialing process to demonstrate proficiency in applications for which he/she will be training/supporting.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years in a clinical or billing office capacity in a healthcare environment.
