Overview
Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled House Physician to join our overnight team from 7 PM to 7 AM at St Elizabeth Healthcare. The primary responsibilities of this role include responding to all code blues and rapid response alerts, managing acute medical flare-ups in hospitalized patients, and performing critical procedures when necessary. The House Physician will not be responsible for admissions or discharges during the shift but will collaborate with the on-site hospitalist physician when needed. This position is ideal for a physician who excels in emergency situations, has strong procedural skills, and enjoys working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, no admissions or discharges required.
Responsibilities
- Emergency Response: Serve as the primary responder to code blues, rapid response calls, and other medical emergencies within the hospital during the overnight shift.
- Acute Flare-Up Management: Provide timely and effective medical care to patients experiencing acute exacerbations of chronic conditions or other urgent health issues.
- Intubation & Central Line Insertion: Perform critical procedures, including intubation and central line insertion, during emergencies or when clinically indicated.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the on-site hospitalist physician and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care during emergencies or acute situations.
- Clinical Documentation: Accurately document all patient encounters, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Continuity of Care: Assist in ensuring the smooth transition of patient care between shifts, facilitating communication with daytime teams when necessary.
- Hospital Support: Act as a critical resource for nursing and other medical staff, providing guidance and support in patient management throughout the night.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD/DO) with active state licensure.
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Proficiency in intubation and central line insertion.
- Strong ability to respond quickly and effectively in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
