Reports to the Manager, the Medical Assistant Paid Training Program is an accelerated training course created for candidates who have a desire to begin their career in the medical field and become a Medical Assistant. As an MA Intern participant, you are required to successfully complete the internal MA training program. This program is conducted and overseen by the SEP Education Team and the determination of your successful completion is at their full discretion. You will be required to pass a final check off in two phases: after hands-on training with the Education Team and after in-office training with a preceptor. The MA Intern is responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. The MA Intern is responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office.Job Description:

PAY RANGE
$16.24 18.68, based on previous work experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be 18 years or older
- Have at least 1 year of work experience
- Have obtained a High School Diploma or GED
- Have a valid drivers license
- Pass a drug screen and background check
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident/green card holder
EDUCATION:
Minimum: H.S. Diploma/GED
Successful completion of SEP training program required to maintain employment
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
External Candidates: 1 year of work experience (excluding non-paid externships)
Preferred: CNA vocational school or other healthcare experience.
Internal Candidates: PSR or Phlebotomist with SEP; waiving one year in current role if staying in same office or with Transfer Exception.
REQUIREMENTS
A signed Work/Training Agreement upon acceptance into the program, committing to giving TWO YEARS of employment to SEP. If 2 years of employment with SEP is not successfully completed, repayment of the training will be required.
TRAINING OVERVIEW
The training program is 12 weeks, full time.
- 6 weeks of classroom training; 8a-4:30p daily
- 6 weeks of training in an office with a designated preceptor.
- 1 day for a final skills assessment and competency check off.
- Interns are considered SEP employees and are paid from day one.
- Upon completion of the training program and successfully passing the skills and competency assessment, the MA Intern will obtain a full-time MA position with SEP.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to learn new computer skills.
- Must have good organizational skills and work professionally with doctors, hospital administration and management, SEP employees and the public.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based decision-making culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes and on-time performance.
- Must respond and follow through to requests from customers promptly.
- Must work carefully and precisely with attention to detail.

CLINICAL TRAINING:
Training may vary by practice and could include any or all of the following:
- Obtaining vital signs (manual blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature)
- Assisting providers with exams and procedures
- Administering injections and immunizations
- Performing EKG and other essential laboratory procedures
- Collecting patient samples (fingerstick, throat/nose swabs, urine)
- Answer and triage patient phone calls and questions
