Job Summary:

The Gift Shop Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Gift Shop, including training and supervision of the Gift Shop Volunteers, with minimal oversite from the Gift Shop Manager. This role ensures efficient inventory management and maintaining a well-stocked and organized retail environment. This role manages staff scheduling by filling open shifts, reconciles the monthly credit card statement, and ensures timely vendor payments. Additionally, the Gift Shop Supervisor supports merchandising, purchasing, and overall store operations. The supervisor may be asked on occasion to support the other gift shops.

Job Description:

  • Coordinates flow of day-to-day stockroom activity. Responsible for receiving, checking against PO and pricing. Responsible for reporting damage claims to vendor. Ensures all merchandise is checked in and priced.
  • Reconciles the monthly credit card statement to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Responsible for supervision, scheduling and training of Gift Shop Volunteers
  • Creates new displays of seasonal and everyday products bringing to the sales floor and restocking daily
  • Processes and ensures timely payments to vendors
  • Data entry in POS system for inventory accountability
  • Assists in buying and reordering of merchandise for shops
  • Helps to coordinate Special Event Sales
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High school diploma

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • High organizational skill
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with and motivate volunteers.
  • Financial knowledge sufficient to reconcile a budget.
  • Point of Sale Cash Register system knowledge & entering merchandise for inventory control.
  • Computer skills: Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Visual display/ merchandising experience.

Kind and Length of Experience: 

  • Strong background in all areas of shop operation.
  • 3 years of experience in Gift/Apparel shop with responsibility of merchandise flow.
