40Job Summary:
This position will understand all concepts of the annual tax return preparation process and provide assistance to the System Director Treasury and Tax to ensure successful completion of annual tax returns for the healthcare system (SEH, SEP, and affiliates). This will include compiling tax related data from operations, meeting with operations and finance staff to validate data, data-entry into the tax return tracking system, working with external resources to complete and review tax forms, managing timelines, and creating Board presentations. The position will assist the System Director Treasury and Tax with community benefit reporting and bond compliance. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Work with internal and external resources to coordinate the Systems Federal, State, and Local tax filing requirements relative to the systems income tax obligations and annual Exempt Organization filings (Form 990 and SEP partnerships).
- Coordinate and complete data gathering, consolidation, and analysis; preparation of supporting work papers
- Entry of data into tax return tracking system; review of documents with the System Director Treasury and Tax
- Work with external tax firm to resolve issues related to their review of Federal and State tax returns
- Prepare periodic sales tax, property tax, and provider tax returns and payments
- Assist System Director Treasury and Tax with tax-exempt bond compliance monitoring.
- Work with departments to evaluate and track activities related to private business use and unrelated business income
- Work with departments to track bond-financed assets
- Assist with community benefits reporting for the System.
- Compile and record community benefits information in the CBISA system
- Participate in Community Convenor meetings and projects
- Prepare community benefit reporting for Senior Management
- Prepare and distributed organization specific federal, state, and local tax forms (W9s, exemption certificates).
- Provide guidance regarding sales and use tax issues and 1099 reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update tax policies and standard work procedures as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of tax accounting principles, tax return preparation and tax research
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft products, especially Excel
- Detail oriented and highly organized
