The Nursing Excellence/Magnet Program Manager is responsible for working in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Excellence/ Magnet Program Director in developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and overseeing the overall Magnet Recognition program and the Magnet designation/re-designation process and related programs across the healthcare system. This position works closely with system-wide leadership and staff in executing the Magnet program initiatives. Provides leadership to develop and implement organizational strategies and infrastructure to support quality, operational effectiveness, and shared leadership which are all essential to the Magnet program. Acts as a liaison with all departments within the healthcare system to promote nursing excellence and to further the Magnet program philosophy.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Assists the Director of Nursing Excellence/Magnet Program Director to develop, implement, maintain, and monitor all aspects of the program. Maintains current knowledge of the Magnet program requirements. Completes assigned designation/re-designation documents per scheduled timelines.
- Maintains data management systems to support the Magnet initiatives/program requirements. Completes specific data management projects as assigned.
- Serves as a liaison, role model, and resource of programs and services, as needed to further the efforts of the Magnet program. Participates in the education of staff and management to ensure currency with Magnet standards and NDNQI benchmarking.
- Prepares written communication tools for nursing such as the nursing annual report.
- Utilizes innovative approaches to foster an environment of excellence. Fosters an environment of continuous learning, evidence-based practice, research, nursing excellence, benchmarking and performance improvement. Works closely with the Director of Nursing Excellence/Magnet Program Director and other management and administrative staff to achieve the goals of the Nursing Division and the Magnet Program.
- Maintains excellent communication and professional/collegial relationships with staff and management to execute Magnet program initiatives.
- Supports staff-led projects, including the work of the Shared Leadership councils, committees, and task forces. Serves on designated committees/councils/task forces (Integration Council, Magnet Steering Committee, and Magnet Champions Committees).
- Interprets data from quarterly benchmarking reports, Assists in the coordination of the RN Engagement survey, including in planning, administration, analysis, evaluation, and development of short and long range strategies to address any deficient areas (in collaboration with nursing management and leadership).
- Performs other Duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Licensed to practice nursing in Kentucky.
- Masters in nursing (MSN) or another appropriate postgraduate health science degree or Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) with proof of enrollment in a Masters program with a written plan to advanced degree completion.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Proven track record of stellar Project Management expertise, organization skills, and ability to meet tight timelines.
- Familiar with ANCC Magnet Recognition program criteria requirements and NDNQI program and how to meet established criteria
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills across diverse groups.
- Strong analytical skills and abilities in interpreting and evaluating data, generating well-developed reports, and concisely communicating results.
- Flexible with time, able to meet multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and management skills.
- Demonstrated strategic planning and decision-making skills.
- Organized, flexible, and articulate; an excellent public speaker and writer.
- Prior Performance Improvement background.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and advanced proficiency in displaying/presenting data in charts, graphs, tables, etc.
- Ability to effectively lead & facilitate large diverse work groups & achieve desired results.
Kind and Length of Experience:
- 3 years of experience in a leadership position in a large multi-hospital system.
- Prior role in coordinating with clinical operations and in overseeing large scale projects.
- Proven track record in, supervision, team building & problem solving in a complex organization.
