32Job Summary:
EP Tech I is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified cardiologist, performs procedures on adult patients resulting in accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart arrthymias while maintaining maximum patient safety. EP Tech I is primarily responsible for employing imaging techniques, operation of other related equipment and assisting cardiologist during procedure.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Operates and maintains all radiographic, digital, processing and viewing equipment associated with the production of high-quality images. Assist in the operation of mapping system and ablation generator. Applies principles of radiation safety and protection.
- Acts as first assistant during diagnostic EP studies, therapeutic ablation procedures, and surgical device implantations to assure completeness of case.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge in the use of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products for procedures to ensure its accuracy and safety.
- Reviews the pre-procedural patient assessment to obtain adequate information, communicate pertinent data to MD and ensure appropriate imaging and patient safety.
- Assist in the education process of new employees, mentors students and other healthcare professionals observing in the EP lab.
- Assist in the development of performance improvement activities in the EP lab, to include ideas, data collection, data analysis and implementing change to ensure best practice in the EP lab. Assist to maintain accurate implantable device database.
- Must be able to perform above duties based on population served standards /competencies to include age-specific and diverse patient types.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Must be RT, licensed in the state where work is being performed and registered as a RT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Specialized Knowledge:
- CPR certification
Kind and Length of Experience:
- Two year experience as an RT or one year as a Cath Lab tech/special procedure tech.
