Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Radiation Oncology Manager, treats patients with radiation in accordance with the physician’s prescription.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

  • Accurate physical set-up and delivery of radiation treatment to patients according to the oncologist’s prescription in a safe and timely manner:  properly identifying patient prior to treatment, observes patient during treatment, and notifies appropriate personnel of any changes in patient condition.
  • Accurate documentation of treatment record in patient’s radiation chart and records appropriate charges.
  • Images portals in accordance with policy on all patients; makes successful adjustments to patients’ ports as requested. Also transfers films, associate films and registers new patients in software system.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient use of Linear Accelerator to ensure patient safety and machine quality.  Reports any malfunctions promptly.
  • Participates in weekly Technical/Chart rounds, carries out tasks timely and accurately and performs other tasks as required.
  • Performs accurate CT/Sims, correctly formulates beam blocking and molds.  Practices safety and cleanliness in the mold room.
  • Open the department; warm up and perform quality checks on the linear accelerators.  Rooms are orderly and linen stocked daily.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Registered radiation therapist or registry eligible.
  • Licensed to practice in the state where work is being performed
