The purpose of this position is to oversee the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program (including two-state accreditation), and enhance the utilization of Medical Staff resources. This role acts as a physician advocate and liaison, fostering positive relationships and physician satisfaction, facilitating seamless communication with referring healthcare professionals, and improving access to system services.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Duties
Medical Staff Relations / Communication:
- Responsible for the development, maintenance, and retention of physician, APP and office manager relationships between the hospital, employed provider organization and community-based private practice medical groups.
- Conducts regular meetings with physicians, APPs, and office managers to address Medical Staff issues, serve as a resource for timely issue resolution, ensure physician satisfaction is maintained whenever possible, and identify strategic opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between the Medical Staff and hospital, sharing information and keeping both parties well informed.
- Coordinate communication methods including lounge information boards, mailings, email communication, the intranet, newsletters, and other methods to distribute information to the Medical Staff.
- Support regular distribution of a Physician & APP Engagement Survey and develop action plan to assess provider satisfaction.
- Maintain a flexible schedule conducive to meeting with members of the Medical Staff to achieve departmental goals and position responsibilities (evening and weekend hours as necessary).
- Ensure all department activities are compliant with all Federal/State regulations and organizational policies and procedures.
- Engage in system projects that impact the Medical Staff.
- Coordinate Medical Staff networking events.
Physician Education:
- Serve as the point of contact for the educational resources of the Allnutt Health Sciences Library including Clinical Key AI, JAMA, NEJM, and other electronic resources available to our Medical Staff.
- Interface with vendors to manage access and provide physician/provider feedback.
- Provides usage data to St. Elizabeth senior leadership.
- Manages the system-wide Continuing Education Program, ensuring diverse educational offerings and maintenance of accreditation in Kentucky and Indiana.
- Participate in organization such as the Kentucky Medical Association (KMA), Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA), and ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education) to stay current on continuing medical education best practices and to ensure compliance.
- Develop, promote and maintain professional relationships, both internally and externally, that support educational offerings.
- Utilize continuing medical education software (Cloud CME) to manage all CME activity (planning, forms, registration, attendance, etc.)
- Ensure regular educational programming for the Medical Staff including Grand Rounds, Clinical Symposiums, and Tumor Boards.
- Utilize a variety of educational formats (live, enduring, virtual) to support a variety of learning methods.
- Support the distribution and tracking of educational requirements mandated by accrediting and certification bodies for the Medical Staff.
- Effectively delegate and monitor assignments of planners, faculty, coordinators, and other stakeholders, prioritizing and coordinating tasks to ensure the successful planning and execution of CME events.
Physician / APP Outreach
- Develop outreach strategy in concert with the health systems strategic goals and priorities using input from senior leadership and market data.
- Report and document physician encounters / office visit information to hospital administration. This includes physician issues, feedback, concerns, and other pertinent market information. Track and document key initiatives (such as a quarterly focus on targeted clinical specialties).
- Identify opportunities to shift referral patterns through data analysis and targeted outreach activities.
- Monitor volume data to assess opportunities for growth.
- Report trends in referral patterns, volume, and satisfaction to leadership team.
- Promote St. Elizabeth Healthcares goal of providing excellent customer service to the Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Providers.
- Support Medical Staff Development Planning activities.
- Support evaluation and administration of recruitment assistance.
Budget Responsibility
- Budgetary responsibility over the Allnutt Health Sciences Library and Continuing Medical Education Program (Kentucky and Indiana).
- Design/implement efficient services, offer revenue enhancements, monitor expenses, benchmark, encourage service excellence and provide effective communications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Communications, Marketing, or general business administration.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Must have strong knowledge of referral dynamics, physician and hospital marketplace issues and overall understanding of hospital operations.
- Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills and the ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
- Needs to be an organized individual able to handle a very busy environment with minimal supervision.
Kind and Length of Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience in physician relations, network development, medical office, or a similar role in hospital marketing, medical affairs, or business development.
- Experience must include utilization of a variety of communication methods (email, social media, texting, telephone, internet, newsletters) to effectively disseminate information.
