Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician Academy Student is enrolled in the St Elizabeth Pharmacy Technician Academy (PTA), a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) training program which prepares students to successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

  • Attend and participate in didactic portion of classroom training and coursework.
  • Demonstrate skills learned and developed in the classroom through training with certified Pharmacy Technicians in various experiential work settings. Observe exam concepts in practice
  • Complete assigned coursework including online or written modules, quizzes, and tests. Meets expectations in demonstration of knowledge and skills assessed using these tools.
  • Show initiative in preparation for the pharmacy technician exam through use of transition periods for self-study, peer collaboration and accessing educator office hours
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED
  • Registered with applicable Board of Pharmacy (or obtain registration no later than 14 days after employment start date)
  • Must sit for the PTCB or the NHA Certification exam once eligibility requirements are met (i.e. upon completion of the PTA didactic and experiential curriculum)
  • Must be actively working towards national certification and obtained no later than 6 months after completion of the PTA didactic and experiential curriculum

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Experience with MS Office and other computer programs
  • Organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent written and communication skills
