Responsible for the preparation, setup and maintenance of anesthesia equipment/supplies in various locations where anesthesia procedures are performed. Assists the Anesthesia Provide and/or RN to meet the needs of the patient.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Provides and maintains anesthesia equipment/supplies for scheduled, urgent, emergent surgical cases and anesthesia procedures.
- Stocks supplies in operating rooms, anesthesia carts, difficult airway carts, pediatric airway carts and Holding Area anesthesia carts in all areas where anesthesia procedures are performed, including but not limited to the main OR, Surgery Center, Endoscopy, PACU, Line Room, Radiology.
- Checks and maintains anesthesia equipment/machine for proper function. Accurately calibrates anesthesia machine oxygen sensor.
- Prepares anesthesia machines, breathing circuits, cardiac monitors and anesthesia equipment in a timely manner.
- Performs cleaning of anesthesia equipment/machine.
- Provide effective anesthesia equipment/machine troubleshooting for proper operation. Contacts Clinical Engineering for assistance as appropriate.
- Maintains adequate supply of oxygen tanks and properly stores in designated area.
- Demonstrates aseptic technique in all aspects of job duties.
- Prepares IV lines and pressure lines for specialty catheters including CVP, arterial and pulmonary artery catheters.
- Under the direction of the RN, assists with direct patient care activities during anesthesia procedures.
- Responds in a timely manner to the Anesthesia Provider and the RNs requests to meet the needs of the patient.
- Respects the patients ethnic origin, spiritual beliefs, and the right to privacy and confidentiality.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, visitors, and health care team members.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities as directed
- Demonstrates fiscal accountability by cost-effective utilization of equipment and supplies.
- Reviews anesthesia charges for accuracy.
- Ensures oral and written directives are effectively and efficiently completed.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal working relationships and works cooperatively with health care team members.
- Ensures ongoing personal growth and development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of aseptic technique
