Position Overview:
As a Catholic healthcare organization, St. Elizabeth is committed to the common good and caring for the whole person. In support of these commitments, St. Elizabeth is searching for a Director of Culture and Belonging. The Director will provide leadership as we: (1) further a culture of belonging within St. Elizabeth, (2) enhance cultural intelligence to ensure comprehensive and competent patient care, and (3) build teams that fully leverage the skills, experience and agency of all our people.
The Director, who will report to the Senior Vice President for Mission, will join St. Elizabeth at an exciting time. St. Elizabeth has just launched two new departments in the Division of Mission Services, Community Health and Partnerships and Culture and Belonging. These two interdependent and co-located departments have been developed to advance two key priorities in our strategic plan: associate and provider engagement and health equity. In pursuit of these priorities, the Director, in collaboration with system-wide partners, particularly Human Resources, will enhance cultural intelligence among leaders and providers, create an organizational ecosystem that fosters an asset-based, inclusive culture, and leverage research and assessment to guide our efforts.
Job Duties
Promote Cultural Intelligence throughout the organization by:
- Define roadmap to further develop and implement a multi-year cultural intelligence program to ensure competent, inclusive and holistic patient care and associate engagement across St. Elizabeth.
Promote a Culture of Belonging throughout the organization by:
- Design and create multi-year strategies and initiatives that increase associate engagement by creating an ecosystem that deepens associates and providers sense of connection to one another, to St. Elizabeth and our mission, and to the communities we serve.
Create Evaluation Processes and Communication Tools
- Facilitate the creation of annual and long-term cultural intelligence and belonging goals, establish success metrics and data collection and evaluation processes to ensure goals are met.
- Partner with HR and Marketing and Communications to internally promote and celebrate our values and work and to externally communicate our work and values.
Collaborate with HR to recruit and retain talented associates with diverse skills and experience and cultural intelligence; help align total rewards practices to these goals.
Serve as an active member of and contribute to the Mission Services leadership team.

In addition to bringing proven leadership experience in culture, inclusion and organizational development, the Director will bring experience:
- Leading cross-functional teams
- Building relationships across diverse stakeholders and serving multiple different constituencies
- Developing strategy, managing operations and executing initiatives
- Utilizing data, assessment and research to refine strategy, respond to opportunities and lead change
- Facilitating learning experiences
- Dynamically communicating with diverse audiences, with the ability to articulate a vision that inspires others and brings them together

- Subject matter expert in organizational development, specifically fostering culture and belonging and the promotion of cultural intelligence

- Experience contributing to enterprise-wide associate engagement initiatives
- Demonstrated experience assessing current trends and responding to socio-cultural forces
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions to gain commitments and implement initiatives and sustainable change
- Strategic planning, processes mapping and project management
- Assessment and reporting
- Exceptional project management skills to develop, execute and track cross-functional projects, activities and events
- Strong interpersonal, networking and relationship management skills
- Strong communication skills, public presentations, writing, report creation, etc.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong business acumen and organizational savvy
Kind and Length of Experience:
- 6 years of experience in organizational development in healthcare and /or similar field
