Job Summary:
St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Medical Secretary for our Maternal Fetal Center located within the Edgewood Hospital.Shift/Hours: Full-Time – 40 hours/week, First Shift

The Medical Secretary is responsible for supporting patient flow in a unit/department to include:
1) Customer service and registration
2) Scheduling and coordinating appointments/tests/labs/referrals
3) Assist with billing functions – perform authorizations/pre-certifications, billing preparation and/payment collection
5) Completes medical transcription/dictation, medical reports, patient histories, operative notes, and correspondence; maintaining office files and patient records, 6) provides support to all clinicians for electronic medical record documentation.
Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Qualifications:
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
High School Diploma or GED
Secretarial related courses
Specialized Knowledge:
Medical terminology
Knowledge of transcription
PC proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel
Ability to type 40-80 wpm
Ability to operate dictation and transcription equipment
Keyboarding/ Data Entry
CPT and ICD coding
Kind and Length of Experience:
One year related office experience including: medical transcription, computer systems, scheduling, charting, filing, telephone etiquette, and customer service.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Aptitude for multitasking and organization.
