Under general direction, manages the purchase, installation and support of St. Elizabeth Healthcare data systems, including LAN/WAN systems, Databases, Storage Area Networks and Information Security. Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Responsible for evaluating current systems. Plans large scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provides work leadership and training to lower level network engineers. Requires expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applicationsDemonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Client Interaction -- Provide well planned and efficient Information System services to ensure efficient and maximized use of computer resources by the Organization. Systems managed include the main SEH campuses and outlying properties
- Client Interaction -- Provide extensive training, documentation and support for all users and systems.
- Client Interaction -- Assist the Network, Systems, or Client Services Manager in service request prioritization and assignment. Provide suggestions for improvement to management in response to daily issues encountered.
- Systems Design -- Evaluate new hardware, software technology; recommend system upgrades and enhancements to ensure the quality of Information System services to the Organization. Responsible for evaluating new enhancements for the SEH network.
- Systems Design -- Evaluate requests for additional I/S systems or modifications to existing systems to identify impact on current or planned resources. Develop and maintain systems monitoring tools to provide proactive alerting.
- Project Management -- Provide project management of system and software rollouts or upgrades. Assist management in determining project resource requirements, tasks and timelines. Provide assistance in developing and preparing annual budgets.
- Personal Growth -- Enhance professional growth and development through in-service meeting, educational programs and workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Bachelors degree.
- Bachelor's degree requirement can be waived if the candidate has four or more years experience supporting an applicable application or technology.
Epic Operational Database Administrator Certified for greater than 3 years
Bachelors degree in related technical/business area plus 6 years of IT or business experience. 6 years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, programming, data communications, Microsoft office products, OS back office products, information security and communications.
Strong Unix skills using the command-line prompt, including navigating directory structures and file manipulation
Experience with operating system file permissions, file system/volume group configuration, etc.Advanced experience in Linux systems administration, scripting and patching
Knowledge of a command shell (Korn, POSIX, Bourne, or C), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, and Perl.
Ability to create, understand, and follow change management processes and Epic Best Practice recommendations to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance procedures
Kind and Length of Experience:
- Four years experience administering Microsoft Networks or maintaining Cisco Networks, Storage Area Networks, Information Security, Microsoft and Unix Servers and/or Virtualization Solutions and experience supporting enterprise data infrastructure systems.
- 6 years of EPIC ODBA experience.
