This position assists the Corporate Coding Manager in meeting the needs of Patient Financial Services departments. The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate the management of Accounts Receivables and to code when necessary to meet such goals.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
- Successfully work retrospective claim edits within on a daily basis with the goal of minimizing these edits after coding has been completed.
- Daily review of DNB, medical necessity edits, consecutive accounts and other various billing edits for coding correction and additional information.
- Work with SEH Information Systems teams to continually assess HIM technological needs and develop on-going plans to meet those needs through current and future software applications
- Assist Coding Manager with external reviews, studies, audits of the coding area, case mix index studies, MS-DRG (APR-DRG), APC, CCI changes, JCAHO preparation, policy and procedure updates, reports, and workflow management, etc.
- Identify and assess accuracy of use, additional training needs and deficiencies in applications and knowledge of edits by coding associates.
- Successfully monitor and report the total dollars being held after coding completion in hospital patient accounting systems on a daily basis.
- Successfully monitor and report the total dollars being held due to lack of documentation by report type on a weekly basis
- Codes as necessary to facilitate management of Accounts Receivables.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Associate of Arts/Science Degree, OR
- High School Diploma or GED AND 10 years
- Hospital Coding experience
- CCS, RHIT or RHIA Credentials
Specialized Knowledge:
- Prospective Payment Systems.
- ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding systems. Use of personal computer, use of Windows application.
Kind and Length of Experience:
- Two years experience.
