Job Summary:

The Clinical Research Assistant assists the Clinical Operations Team in a multi-functional capacity to carry out all assigned tasks associated with the collection, documentation, and maintenance of clinical data including phlebotomy/laboratory, EKG, vital signs, data entry, and administrative responsibilities.

Job Description:

  • Perform clinical assessments (vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, etc.) within scope of the protocol and local law and regulations
  • Documents all clinical research findings, i.e., history, medications, vital signs, weight, and testing results.
  • Collects specimens according to research study guidelines and laboratory policies and procedures for timely and accurate testing.  Maintains IATA certification for the safe handling and shipping of biologic specimens.
  • Understand basic principle(s) involved in assigned procedures.   Evaluates specimens for acceptability for proper testing.  Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens. Understands special handling requirements for test results that meet outlying criteria.
  • Process, package, and ship laboratory specimens as required per protocol and IATA regulations.
  • Ensures good documentation practices when collecting, transferring data to sponsor/CRO data captures systems, and resolving queries under the direction of the lead Research Coordinator / Research RN.
  • Understand and participate in patient recruiting tasks including but not limited to prescreening potential subjects for clinical research trials either via phone or in person.
  • Ability to escalate potential safety issues such as adverse events and serious adverse events to the lead Research Coordinator / Research RN.
  • Performs administrative duties including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling subjects, making reminder calls, and updating patient tracking systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • H.S. Diploma / GED
