Shift/Hours: Full-Time 30 hours/60hr biweekly, Night Shift 7P-7A

Job Description:
The NICU Clerical Technician is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the clerical functions and duties of a designated unit/program. Utilizes customer service skills when greeting patient/visitors and answering telephone. Demonstrates the ability to complete worklist tasks triggered by physician orders or nurse generated tasks under the direct supervision of licensed nursing personnel. Responsible for visually monitoring patients on central monitor and notifies responsible nurse of any changes.
Utilizes customer service skills when addressing patients/visitors, physicians, co-workers face to face or on the telephone.
Provide support to team by answering phones, calling nurses, answering call lights.
Relays written and verbal communication and will be responsible for reporting all pertinent patient/family observations to the professional staff.
Provides safe and proper hand-off to on-coming shift regarding patient care including incidences of monitor alarms on both the central and the infant security alarms, pending admissions, and pending discharges, and any social concerns that would limit or otherwise impact family members and others who can gain access to the unit
Provides visual monitoring of all patients on central monitor.
Immediately notifies nursing of changes in patient monitor alarm and ensures that responsible nurse or charge nurse responds to changes in monitor alarms.
Provides visual monitoring of security cameras in patient rooms & halls.
Acts as workflow manager for NicView camera system to add, change and assess bedside cameras.
Organizes and performs clerical duties in Epic related to worklist tasks, admission, discharge, transfer, and death of a patient to assure pertinent data is recorded for present and future use.
Updates and maintains patient records as defined by organizational and unit policy to allow functional use by nursing, medical staff, and health care team members.
Assist with discharge.
Maintains a record of patients requiring hearing screens.
Communicates these needs to charge nurse and ancillary staff.
Maintains accurate log of all patients admitted to and discharged from the unit.
Actively participates in Infant Security by monitoring infant security system to ensure all patients are entered accurately.
Provides access to the unit for all family members, visitors, and non-maternal child staff.
Maintains up-to-date list of visitors as indicated by parent/social services.
Assists in maintaining adequate amount of supplies on nursing unit and obtain other items as needed from central supply and Par level.
Assists in training other employees in clerical tasks, monitors, cameras, and security of unit
Assist team as directed including but not limited to: Transportation of patients and transporting of blood products and specimens.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
High school diploma or GED.
Specialized Knowledge:
Good communication skills.
