This department-based Computer Applications Coordinator position is responsible for assisting with planning, coordination, implementation and day-to-day maintenance and operations of software applications. Interface with Information Systems, vendors, providers and staff to ensure applications are functioning properly and meet departmental technological needs.Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
Application Knowledge: Serves as a subject matter expert on content, process and procedures associated with the application to continuously assess department technological needs and develop on-going plans to meet those needs through current and future software applications. Maintains in-depth knowledge of the software/simulators throughout the systems cycle. Maintains in-depth knowledge and expertise in the technical tools used to support the system.
Application Administration: Assists with system administration duties for various systems, as assigned by the Director. Monitors application performance, identifies and eliminates bottlenecks and application problems. Assists with keeping applications up to date on vendor supplied updates and patches and scheduled maintenance, upgrades, increased efficiency of application use and implementation of increased application capabilities.
Maintains secure application by proactively applying critical vendor maintenance, auditing and inactivating user access as necessary.
Configuration: Analyzes business processes, work flows and configures the application to support those processes. Proposes improvements to existing functionality and works to fully understand and implement new functionality available in software releases to maximize the use of the application.
Project Participation/Completion: Participates in projects as assigned by Manager/Director/. Works independently to complete work within established timelines. Assists in developing project tasks including the development, distribution and maintenance of reports from various applications to assess accuracy of use, additional training needs and deficiencies in applications and works closely with managers, clinic supervisors, staff and providers to resolve issues, remove barriers and avoid delays and surprises.
Customer Service: Manages the business relationship with all staff and providers and acts as the primary support contact, coordinating all questions and issues that arise for the applications/simulators they support. Resolves support requests in a timely fashion and achieves high scores on customer feedback. Coordinates software updates and changes with users. Coordinate training for new applications or new hire with appropriate staff. Coverage includes troubleshooting issues, answering questions from users, and resolving application issues, thus promoting and maintaining optimal usage of the application. Provide on-going support to staff for appropriate use of applications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Associate degree in field related to Business, Computer Science or Healthcare.
Associate degree requirement can be waived if the candidate has two or more years experience supporting an applicable application.
Health Information Management Requirements:
Associate or Bachelors degree in HIM/HIS (or equivalent hospital coding and/or technical application experience) plus CCS, RHIT, OR RHIA credentials
Anyone hired without credentials or with apprentice credentials (CCA) will have two years from date of hire to obtain one of above listed preferred credentials.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Information Systems, vendors software tools and business processes.

Health Information Management Requirements:
- Prospective Payment Systems.
- ICD/CPT/HCPCS coding systems.
- Electronic health record use and maintenance.
- Proficient use of 3M coding applications (i.e., CRS, CDIS, AES, ARMS)
- Use of personal computer, use of Windows application.
Kind and Length of Experience:
Two or more years of related information systems experience
Health Information Management Requirements:
Two years of experience in coding and/or EHR and coding software applications
