Job Summary:

The purpose of the Staff Accountant is to record journal entries, prepare account reconciliations, and identify issues, discrepancies, and other pertinent matters related to the following areas, including, but not limited to:

Foundation.
Non-patient billing.
Intercompany transactions.
Cash and unposted patient cash.
Accounts payable and other accruals.
Prepaid expenses.
Net assets.
Contributions, restricted and non-restricted.
Various payroll matters.
Other areas as determined by manager.

This position acts as a liaison between accounting and other departments, third parties, and others. Additionally, this position demonstrates knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within accounting and relies on pre-established guidelines and analytical skills to perform the functions of the job. This position works independently with some guidance as needed.

Job Description:

• Prepare calculations, billings, accruals, and other related information within assigned areas.
• Prepare account reconciliations and resolve any issues within assigned areas.
• Prepare support and journal entries within assigned areas.
• Work with the accounting team to ensure a successful close including preparation and recording of various journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Special projects as needed including help with year-end audit
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• Associates degree in a related field,
• or High School degree with 3 years general ledger accounting experience for associates hired into the role prior to

Specialized Knowledge: 

• Microsoft Office
• Accounting general ledger entries and reconciliations
• Analytical skills

Kind and Length of Experience: 

• 3 or more years of accountant experience.
