Job Summary:

A Patient Transporter transports patients and patient associated items as requested throughput hospital stay or to departure lounge and to vehicle for discharge to ensure customer service and throughput needs are met.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

  • Patient Transport with use of EMR/tracking software system; safely and courteously transport patients to various areas as requested, using proper equipment, verifying patient name, date of birth, room number and destination and documenting such. Notifies responsible party upon arrival and reports any medical problem keeping all patient information confidential, ensuring safety, courteous and confidential transport of each patient to the correct destination as requested. Practices good hand hygiene.

  • Transport is responsible for the maintenance and disinfecting of departmental equipment, such as stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, equipment rooms and chairs in lounge area.

  • All associates shall follow the applicable safety steps required to perform their duties to ensure safety for themselves and their patients, and be in compliance with Healthcare system, state and federal safety standards.  Examples of such steps may include: performing proper safety procedures and precautions; reporting safety concerns and incidents; using correct lifting techniques (minimal lift & maxi slides) and disposing or sharps and infectious was properly. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the department.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • High School Graduate, GED, or general education requirements for the country that education was obtained

Specialized Knowledge: 

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, interdependently, and set priorities
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to change
